About the event
Dear Friend of the Museum,
On the last night of October, lanterns climb the stone steps of Lighthouse Avenue and the campus gives itself over to the other side of the year. Esoterica X, our tenth Halloween party, returns to the Tibetan Museum with the old rites intact. Fortune tellers read what the cards and palms allow. Guests in their strangest finery compete for the costume crown. Wines, brews, and potions are poured for the occasion, and a DJ keeps the terraces moving until the dancing spills toward the haunted garden, where the paths wind darker than usual.
Esoterica is our main fall fundraiser, and it carries the museum’s work of preserving and sharing Jacques Marchais’ hillside legacy through winter, our leanest season of the year. We hope you will join us. If you cannot be there in costume, you can still stand behind the night as a sponsor. Every sponsor dollar goes to keeping the museum warm, safe, and open this winter:
Winter heating: protecting our historic stone buildings and centuries-old art and artifacts from the cold.
Operations: keeping the lights on and the doors open to visitors, schools, and seniors, and clearing the steps of ice and snow.
An electrical upgrade: providing safe power for the historic buildings and grounds.
Water and drainage: keeping snowmelt and rain out of the buildings on the hillside.
Sponsor an Area of the Night: Whole or partial gifts toward any part of the evening are welcome.
Luck has its own corner of the night as well. Gift basket raffle and 50/50 tickets are available online, at the museum in the weeks leading up to the party, and at the door.
Valet parking will be available to guests. Esoterica X is open to guests ages 21 and over.
