About the event

Qigong is an ancient, powerful mind/body discipline perfect for our modern world.

This practice is a gentle yet dynamic moving meditation, a series of slow stylized movements with coordinated breathing that creates a calm mental focus. The benefits of visualizing and guiding Qi, the life force energy, through the body, improve posture, reduce stress, lessen pain, and ultimately enhance the mind-body connection.

Description

All too often qigong practice sets consist of a set sequence of movements that are offered on a 'one size fits all' basis, but we all have different needs and different people resonate with different approaches to qigong.

This course is about utilising the basic building blocks of practice from the Zhineng Qigong system in order to both deepen your existing practice and give you the ability to safely develop your own approaches that address your specific needs.

We address your needs in three main sections:

  • Self Healing – for those who have a specific aspect that they are looking to improve within their lives.

  • General Mobility and Preventative Health – to help you to keep mobile, strong and healthy

  • Self Development – to support you in releasing self-limiting beliefs and unlocking your true potential

This is done through a series of talks/discussions focusing on different aspects of a bespoke practice set. You will learn about qi field theory and how to start your practice, how to adjust your practice to your specific requirements and how to not get caught in dead end where you practice is not making any progress.

We utilize the practice sets from our Qigong Warm Up Exercises course as these are complete, safe movements that can be combined in different sequences in order to suit individual needs, and we explain and demonstrate ways of combining these into powerful, transformative personal practice sets that can be tailored for the place that you are on your qigong journey.

"The 'special abilities' that sometimes develop in Qi Gong practice are simply the product of our natural capacity in the refined human state."

Requirements

  • There are no barriers to entry on this course. Students of all ages and experience practice Qigong.

  • Just remember to respect your body and build the intensity slowly and thoughtfully.

About Mr. Chin

RD Chin, a teacher, writer, and Feng Shui architect uses qigong for health and well-being after spending over a year in a wheelchair due to multiple myeloma-induced fractures. He authored Feng Shui Revealed.

RD learned Qigong from Master Li Junfeng, founder of Sheng Zhen Meditation, and continues with Merrill Lee, who helped RD progress from being unable to stand for half an hour to teaching others. Classes are dedicated to Nancy Fiano, who introduced RD to Merrill and taught RD 100 steps when standing became possible again.

When Nancy was helping me learn to move and balance again, she showed me the 100 steps. So, I thought I would share the origin of this movement through this Chinese saying:

“飯後百步走,活到九十九! (Fàn hòu bǎi bù zǒu, huó dào jiǔshíjiǔ).”

It rhymes in Chinese really nicely. In English, the not so lyrical translation is,

“If you walk 100 steps after eating, you’ll live to 99!”

This class will be offered over the course of eight weeks.
