About the event
Since its inception in 1945, the Jacques Marchais Center of Tibetan Art has been a haven for those seeking to delve into the rich disciplines it offers. In a world increasingly connected through the internet, the allure of exploring new places from the comfort of our homes is undeniable. But what about the profound impact of changing our physical surroundings on our perceptions and experiences?
Let's ponder this together. Can the environment we inhabit truly shape our lives? We believe so. That's why we're thrilled to spotlight two remarkable individuals who have dedicated their lives to changing the world around them: His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
One, born in a palace in Tibet, the other, in poverty in South Africa. One, a Buddhist; the other, a Christian. Despite their starkly different backgrounds, their friendship teaches us that genuine connection transcends our disparities.Â
Together, they champion a message of JOY, inspiring us all to live more fully.
As we approach Juneteenth National Independence Day, on June 13 at 3:30 pm, we invite you to join us for a special screening of
"Mission Joy: Finding Happiness in Troubled Times".
This film, a labor of love by a talented team of filmmakers, including four Academy Award winners, pays homage to the enduring spirit of these holy men and their quest for joy amidst adversity.
