About the event
Join dance artist Myrto Daskaloudi for an introduction to Tsiftiteli, a living Greek and Greek-Anatolian dance tradition shaped by centuries of cultural exchange along the trade routes connecting Greece and Anatolia. This hour blends movement and meaning — foundational steps and body isolations alongside the music, history, and lineage that shaped the dance. No experience necessary; all bodies and levels welcome. Join us in the gallery or from home via livestream.
Myrto Daskaloudi is a first-generation Greek-American dance artist and teacher with sixteen years of study in belly dance and Mediterranean social dance traditions. She is the founder of Muses School of Dance, a living online school dedicated to the art, music, and history of Tsiftiteli, and the producer of Cafe Aman Project, presenting monthly performances in Brooklyn and beyond. Myrto has studied and collaborated with Athena Najat, Despina Cartsos, and Sophianna Apergis, and brings a deep cultural and embodied connection to her teaching, rooted in her Greek heritage and years of dedicated practice.
