About the event

Dr. Chok will teach the seven-point vajra posture. He will introduce the five chakras and five energies (loong/prana/chi) and explain how each pose is related to its correspondent chakra.  The class will include an exploration of the manner in which each posture brings under control its correspondent subtle energy (loong/prana/chi).  And Dr. Chok will explain why he feels this is the best posture for mindfulness/meditation practice.   Lastly, there will be instruction in some hip-opener yoga movements/exercises.

Dr Chok Tenzin Monlam is an accomplished teacher who earned his Ph.D. at the University of Delhi. He has dedicated his career to the study and translation of the Tibetan language in contemporary society.

He is also a longtime practitioner -- and a highly respected instructor-- in Buddhist meditation and Tibetan yoga. His education was under the guidance of many of the great masters of the Tibetan Buddhist schools. Dr Chok is also trained in yoga from the Bon and Indian traditions.

Ordained by HH the Dalai Lama, Dr. Chok practiced as a Tibetan monk for 10 years before adopting the life of a practicing academic, teacher and healer. As the Head of the Research and Translation Department at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives in Dharamshala, India he taught a wide range of modalities from Tibetan language classes to Tibetan yoga and Buddhist philosophy.
