About Ani Chudrun
Ani Chudrun is an ordained nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama since 1998. Originally from the Philippines, she moved to New York City after college to seek new opportunities. Her journey into Buddhism began while studying yoga in India, but it was in New Jersey in 1994 that she met her esteemed Tibetan master, with whom she studied until his passing in 2004.
Dedicated to deepening her understanding, Ani Chudrun committed herself to learning Tibetan and, at the age of 50, joined Jangchub Choeling Nunnery in southern India in 2010 to study Buddhist philosophy and dialectics. She is now in her 14th year of the nunnery's 18-year philosophy program, which includes intensive study and debate on Buddhist principles. With over 30 years of experience studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism, Ani Chudrun has shared her knowledge widely. She taught Buddhist Ethics at the Asian Classics Institute (NY) in 1999 and served as a guest speaker on Eastern Philosophy at the School of Visual Arts (NY) from 1999 to 2021. In 2022, she volunteered to teach Secular Ethics at Tong-Len School in northern India. Ani Chudrun is passionate about sharing the lessons and insights she has gained on her journey, offering profound teachings rooted in Buddhist philosophy and ethical practice.
This class will be offered over the course of eight weeks.
