About the event
This talk will dive into the legacy and stories of Tara, the Female Buddha of Tibet, originating around the 6th century CE. Her courage and outspokenness upended the patriarchal norms of that time, honoring the capacity of all beings, especially women, to become enlightened and even become future buddhas. The meditation practices centered on Tara have been practiced from that time until the present moment, in which Tara has become widely known across the world.
Together we will imagine the commonality between the legacy of this astonishing woman of another culture and another era and that of the five women that will be the focus of our upcoming lecture series.
