About the event

Accessing Forgiveness"

A Yoga Nidra and Reiki Workshop

Workshop Description:

At this time of year, we may reflect on our blessings - find gratitude for all those we love, the roof over our heads, the food in our bellies, the memories we have cultivated over the year. However, for some of us, we can still be holding heaviness and burdens in our hearts.

Some of us may be separated from those we love, or carry resentments towards family or friends or those we feel have wronged us. We may be so consumed by unforgivness in our hearts, that we are not able to focus on what is working in our lives or find that sense of gratitude. Perhaps we may feel there is a stormy cloud raining over us.

We will use this guided Yoga Nidra as a way to cleanse and clear our hearts of burden.

Forgiveness restores hope for the future allowing one to abandon anger. Research shows that unforgiveness originating from unresolved emotional pain may create rumination on the event/ injustice. This can lead to a variety of health problems, such as depression, heart disease and diabetes.

Forgiveness is an active process. It doesn't mean we need to forget the harm that was done. It is when we make the decision to let go of the harmful feelings we still hold toward the person or event. We choose it to be released from the sorrows of the past. We choose it whether the person is sorry or not. We choose it for ourselves to be free.

In this workshop, we will talk about forgiveness on a deeper level, tuning into where we hold this in our body. While the practitioner is in a very relaxed state of Yoga Nidra, through visualization we will tap into how unforgiveness presents within the subconscious mind. In this way, we can access the true healing and relief that comes with forgiveness.  In the deepest stage of Yoga Nidra, one moves into a delta brainwave state where healing and restoration occur. Here, the intellectual or logical mind takes a back seat so the seed you plant for forgiveness is very powerful and bound to come true.

During this practice, Kerry will also offer short personal energy healing Reiki treatments to each practitioner to assist in releasing any energetic blocks or suppressed emotions.

Please note: there is no yoga asana; all that is needed is for the practitioner to get comfy and listen to the sound of Kerry's voice guiding them the through various stages of Yoga Nidra which induce total calm within the mind and body. It is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 2-4 hours of sleep in the body.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is an ancient relaxation technique also known as  "yogic sleep" in which the practitioner is guided through various stages  including a rotation of consciousness (body scanning) and guided  imagery to  induce full body relaxation and calm in the mind and body.  The practitioner will be guided into the hypnagogic state- a state  between sleep and waking. It is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra  is  equivalent to 2-4 hours of sleep in the body. Yoga Nidra can help to  calm the nervous system, assist in releasing negative thought patterns  and has been shown to help those struggling with insomnia, PTSD,  depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

Participants will leave this workshop feeling rested, relaxed, and rejuvenated.

Reiki

Reiki is spiritually guided life energy known as Ki or Chi.  Ki is  the non-physical energy used by healers.  The ability to channel Reiki  is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement  process.  Chi flows through to harmonize imbalances that may be  physical, mental or emotional. Using hands-on healing with light touch  or above body hand placement (floating hands), this gentle, non-invasive  modality can treat physical pain as well as depression, trauma,  anxiety, stress, grief, and much more.
