Film Screening: Crazy Wisdom @ Tibetan Museum
Dec 1 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Join us for a screening of Crazy Wisdom. Crazy Wisdom explores the growth of Tibetan Buddhism through the story of Chogyam Trungpa, the brilliant “bad boy of Buddhism,” who was pivotal in bringing Tibetan Buddhism to the West. Trungpa shattered our preconceived notions about how and enlightened teacher should behave. Born in Tibet, recognized as an exceptional reincarnate lama, and trained in the rigorous monastic tradition, Trungpa fled his homeland during the Chinese Communist Invasion. In Britain, realizing a cultural gap prevented his students from any deep understanding of Buddhism, he renounced his vows, eloped with a sixteen year old, and lived as a Westerner. In the US, he openly drank alcohol. Was this Crazy Wisdom?

Free with regular museum admission.

Film Screening – Shining Spirit @ Tibetan Museum
Feb 16 @ 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm

Join us for a screening of Shining Spirit. This film documents a recording project that brings together the family of Jamyang Yeshi, through music and the use of multi-tracking recording technology. With the help of friends, Jamyang, in exile in Canada, and his brother, Tsondue, in exile in the United States, join voices with the family they left behind in Tibet. For the first time in over a decade, they sing together once again. Shining Spirit is a testament to the power of music, the resilience of the Tibetan culture, and the enduring bond of a family separated by politics and geography. Free with regular museum admission.
