Join us for a morning tai chi class with instructor, Kristin Dolan-Murphy. The low impact, gentle movements of tai chi promotes relaxation, balance control, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Thupten Phuntsok leads a guided meditation session on Saturday at 11:30 am. The admission is $12/$10 for members.

Please arrive by 11:30. The class will start by 11:40 am. Please don’t be late. The museum will provide chairs, cushions, and you may want to remove your shoes during the class.

Please remember to silence your cell phones. Our meditation sessions may be recorded and/or photographs may be taken. This may include audio/video recordings and still photography. By paying for the meditation session you acknowledge this and grant us permission to make these recordings and/or still photographs and publish them in the public domain.

Please join us for a screening of Embrace. This film, which was nominated for an award at the First Beijing International Film Festival in 2011, features two Tantric Yogis, father and son, who speak about beliefs, rituals concerning mountain and earth gods, and weather, and the interviews were filmed in the Amdo region of Tibet. Films are free with regular admission, $6 Adults/ $4 Students and Seniors.

July 17 (Thursday), 2014 6:30pm to 9:30pm: Tibetan Twilight

Please join us for Tibetan Twilight, an evening Fundraiser to Benefit the Museum. We are pleased to honor Tenzing Chadotsang, Irene Deitch, PhD, Raymond Galazzo and Tsering Phuntsok. Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased by calling 718-987-3500. The event will also feature an auction of artwork from the estate of Ruth Sprute longtime trustee of the Tibetan Museum. A portion of the proceeds from this evening will benefit the Museum’s Restoration Fund.

July 27 (Sunday), 2014 3:00pm to 4:00pm: Film Screening Yangsi

Join us a for a film screening of Yangsi. Jigme Lhundrup is the “Yangsi,” the reincarnation of a greatly revered Buddhist meditation master. He must train to uphold ths legacy from the age of four. Even with the loving support of his teachers and family the way forward is not always clear. Questions begin to arise about the place of his tradition in the modern world and his own abilities. In this documentary film, director Mark Elliott follows a journey spanning 14 years, culminating in the Yangsi’s introduction to the world as a young man, when he must fully assume the mantle of his predecessor. Films are free with regular museum admission, $6 adults/$4 students and seniors.
