The Dalai Lama visited the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art in 1991. The visit to the Jacques Marchais Museum, located in Staten Island, NYC, was a very unique experience. Meg Ventrudo, the director of the museum, briefly discusses the visit to the museum. In this interview, Meg points out that the Dalai Lama “felt that it was very remarkable that an American woman, back in the 1930s and 40s, could put together such a fantastic collection of Tibetan art and preserve it for the public and he was very impressed with the objects in the museum’s collection”.
